Top Ten TuesdayTop Ten Book Boyfriends

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s awesome. Every Tuesday, the lovely folks over at The Broke and the Bookish post a top ten list topic so that book lovers like you and me can pour over our shelves and make our own lists. You can check out all the other Top Ten Tuesday’s on their site!

Book boyfriends!!! YAY! Friends, there are so many guys from books that I crush on. SO. MANY. I know there maybe should be something weird about crushing on fake people, but I for real can’t help it. Guys in books are better than the ones in real life because they can’t reject me or make me feel like crapola. Because they’re fake! It’s the best thing! Here are 10 of my favorites, in no particular order. I love this Top Ten Tuesday.

Top Ten TuesdayFrom GOING TOO FAR by Jennifer Echols

Y’all, two words for you: Cop. Uniform. I CANNOT. John After is so steamy and kind of dark and deep and broody and stubborn. He was my first encounter with an Echols boy and he’s still my favorite.

Top Ten Tuesday

From GRAVE MERCY by Robin LaFevers

Duval is one of those guys who’s kind of sneaky hot. Maybe he isn’t the mostly delicious thing to look at, but DANG if you don’t fall completely in love with him because he respects you and treats you like an equal and values you. I’d LOVE to date him.

Top Ten Tuesday

From GRACELING by Kristin Cashore

Ah, Po. Po has got that charm, right? I feel like Po is the kind of boyfriend who becomes instant bffs with your mom because he just has charisma and confidence and is a good flirt. But he’s loyal and devoted and supportive of YOU.

Top Ten Tuesday

From IF I STAY/WHERE SHE WENT by Gayle Forman

I most certainly cannot present this list to you all without including at least one solid brooder. It was nearly a tie between Adam and Conrad Fischer from Jenny Han’s Summer series. I get kind of exhausted by excessive brooders in real life, so I like to indulge in the fake ones, and Adam is a great one. Also, MUSICIAN.

Top Ten Tuesday

From The Elementals series by Brigid Kemmerer

Friends, is there not something a little bit hot about a guy who takes care of his family? Am I one of those LAME girls who is attracted to…responsibility? OMG THAT’S SO BORING. But seriously, Michael Merrick is like my dark horse hottie. He’s got skeletons, but he’s also got DEPENDENTS. Possibly the only brooder I could stand on a more permanent basis in real life.

Top Ten Tuesday

From DARK TRIUMPH by Robin LaFevers

That’s right friends. I couldn’t decide between one Robin LaFevers man (I cannot call Duval and Beast “boys” or even “guys”. They are MEN. *fans self*.) I included them both. There’s something about a man who’s nickname is Beast, amirite? He’s strong and beefy, but sweet and funny, too.

Top Ten Tuesday

From THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE by Jandy Nelson

Ah, the tortured artist. The passionate, effervescent, emotional free spirit. I have loved Joe Fontaine basically since the moment I met him, and I can’t imagine ever letting him go. I’ll throw down for Joe and his batting eyelashes.

Top Ten Tuesday

From ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS by Stephanie Perkins

I know that sometimes Etienne was a noob, staying with his girlfriend who didn’t even compare to Anna. But he’s another one with the charm and the confidence. I have no defenses against such a weapon, except possibly my own awkwardness.

Top Ten Tuesday

From AMY & ROGER’S EPIC DETOUR by Morgan Matson

Truth: one of my biggest crushes of my whole high school-Amy life looked exactly the way Morgan Matson describes Roger: Tall, light hair, brown eyes, some freckles, totally sweet and wonderful and friendly. I ADORE Roger. Forever. He’s a home-bringer.

Top Ten Tuesday

From The Kingkiller Chronicle series by Patrick Rothfuss

Gotta get a ginger up in here! Kvothe is a force of hotness in that way that is hard to describe. He’s just magnetic and attractive and has a swagger. Like, I can’t believe that MORE girls at the University aren’t flipping their shizz over him. He’s smart and a rebel and…he’s basically a high fantasy cowboy. I am a puddle.

Comments

  1. Woooah, this is the second list I’ve seen Po on!! I have Graceling, but haven’t read it. I am officially inspired. 😉
Also, not surprised to see Etienne since he is talked about pretty often, but this is another boy I have yet to meet.

    • Ah! Po is pretty fantastic. You know what else is fantastic? GRACELING. So good.
I feel like it’s a cliche to say that I love Etienne. It’s like girls saying they think Tom Brady is hot (if he’s your type, obvs). But it’s so true. You NEED to read both of these books, Betty. They’re two of my favorites.

  2. Joe Fontaine! Howwww did I miss him?! Love your reasoning behind crushing on book guys… definitely love that they can’t reject me! haha! Great list Amy! 🙂

  3. I must tell you – out of all of these stellar boys that you’ve picked (and really, you have a LOT of amazing bookish bfs on here) the one that I adore the most is totally Roger.

I mean he’s really into Hoosiers and music and being sensitive and patient and REALLYYYYYY. He’s the best. Amen.

    • YAY ROGER!!! OMG I love him. You just totally made me swoony for him AGAIN. I need to reread that one. I crave Roger about once a year 🙂

  4. Joe Fontaine will Always top my list, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Most perfect boy ever:)

  5. Wow, great list! I wish I had included Joe Fontaine on mine, I’m tempted to go back and make an addition 😉 I love the hearts, too!

    • haha…thanks for the shout out to my hearts! I’ve discovered Pic Monkey and can’t leave it alone.
I also think it’s not too late to go make that little addition to your list. For Joe, there will always be an exception.

  6. YAY St. Clair *SWOONS*
You listed a lot of my ALMOST top tens haha – Like Duval and Adam. They were both so close yet not quite but I still love them!! Just means we don’t have to fight for them haha!

    • Yay! I won’t have to fight you for my guys! I feel like so many people had lists where I was like “OH YES, HIM. He was number 11.” So many.

  7. Amy, my dear, the line for Kvothe forms behind me. Just sayin’. I am due for another read of TNOTW, and a re-read of TWMF, because I miss me some Kvothe, Bast, and I’m even a bit lonely for Denna.

Also, Beast and Duval. YES. Robin really does know JUST how to write guys for me to swoon over. I am already like twitchy to know who she’ll pair Annith with, cause she got it SO right with Ismae/Duval and Sybella/Beast.

Also, ETIENNNNNNE. HOLLA. (PS, you know I’m doing an ANNA re-read, yes? ;))

    Love your list!

Molli | Once Upon a Prologue

    • Kvothe is…I can’t even describe it. He is THE hottest ginger I’ve ever read, and I seek out hot gingers. I always miss Kvothe, but I also miss his friends from the University. Denna…not so much. But I am a new convert to that one, and I don’t know what took me so long! Have you listened to the audio, narrated by the AMAZING Nick Podehl? That’s a favor you need to do yourself.
I am also really curious about Annith’s man. I kind of had an idea about Beast going into Dark Triumph, but I have NO CLUE about Annith. None. I have no doubt that I will love him forever.
AHH! I love that you’re doing the readalong! I would have totally participated if I wasn’t in the middle of two other readalongs already, lol. But I can always get behind more ANNA love 🙂

  8. I absolutely love, love, LOVE Roger. He’s such an incredible character, and I love how he’s described as well. Plus, the role he plays in Amy’s life? PRICELESS.

    • SIGH ROGER. I do love him so. I love them together so much, although I’d take him for myself if I was 10 years younger and he were actually real. Ha!

  9. I LOVE YOUR LIST!!! I seriously just smiled through the whole thing. There are several on there that I had to sadly cut due to list limitations, but they were on my original list of 25. I love that you put them on yours, including Rodger, John After, and Joe. Actually after reading your list, I kind of want to go read Going Too Far again.

    My
    Teaser and Top Ten Tuesday

LisaILJ @ I’ll Tumble for YA

    • Oh YAY!! That makes me so happy! I’m so glad you liked it! I love that you had a list of 25 guys because I FEEL YOU. So many guys just barely missed my list!
And seriously, I’m about ready to go reread Going Too Far again myself. John After is a STEAMY PIECE.

  10. Beast is one of my favorites! I totally meant to make a list but ran out of motivation. For some reason whenever I make a list like this, I tend to leave out historical guys meaning I would have forgotten Beast which is just *so* wrong. I also love Joe and his eyelashes 😉

    • Beast was so great, right? I loved both of the guys from that series (as you can see) because they appeal to me in totally different ways.
Joe’s eyelashes could cure the common cold, I swear. They’re MAGICAL.

  11. The only fella we shared was Adam Wilde, but I seriously considered adding Duval and Po to mine! Andddd I picked Cricket Bell, so Etienne is all yours 🙂

  12. Adam is a good brooder. I think we would have shared a few others if I’d included a few more than 10 guys. I seriously hemmed and hawed over Sean Kendrick up until I clicked the Publish button. He really should be on here. We would have shared him!! (I mean, on the list. Not, like, you know.) HEYOO!! 😉
