Stacking the Shelves (22)

Stacking the Shelves Basically the Whole Month of May

So, it’s been a month since my last Stacking the Shelves post, but friends, my life has been CRAY lately. I was in my cousin’s wedding–YAY!!–but it took up essentially all of my already short supply of free time for things like running errands, reading, blogging, and doing laundry–BOO!! The good news is that I’ve managed to collect quite a stash of books from all over the place in the past month, so without further ado, to the loot!

Netgalley

Stacking the Shelves

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (Amazon | Goodreads). Because I ADORED ELEANOR & PARK and am now a super-fan of Rainbow Rowell. And because FANFIC.

Dare You To: Pushing the Limits #2 by Katie McGarry (Amazon | Goodreads). Because PUSHING THE LIMITS was good and pretty hot, so I’ve got high expectations for this companion.

STSnetgalley2_banner

Tumble & Fall by Alexandra Coutts (Amazon | Goodreads). Because the apocalypse is coming, y’all. It’s like Armageddon + Lost, what with the kids living on an island. And because pretty cover. #dying

Rose Under Fire: Code Name Verity #2 by Elizabeth Wein (Amazon | Goodreads). Because, while I didn’t adore CODE NAME VERITY, the fact that Elizabeth Wein is awesome was obvious, and because I’m always down for reading more about women in World War II.

The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal (Amazon | Goodreads). Because, forgive my vulgarity friends, HOLY BALLS IT SOUNDS AWESOME. Scandinavian fantasy with treachery, death, madness, and a seamstress and her mistress getting caught in a web of deceit? Honestly.

Black Spring by Alison Croggon (Amazon | Goodreads). Because it’s a vaguely fantasy-ish sounding retelling of Wuthering Heights, a classic that I have  unfortunately never read. And because WITCHES. Sounds creepy.

The Golden Day by Ursula Dubosarsky (Amazon | Goodreads). Because it’s an Aussie author writing a magical realism MG against the backdrop of the Vietnam War. MORE OF THAT IN YA/MG, PLEASE. OMG.

Since You Asked… by Maureen Goo (Amazon | Goodreads). Because it’s a debut with a Korean-American MC who takes her high school newspaper column and straps on her ranty pants.

Stacking the Shelves

North of Nowhere by Liz Kessler (Amazon | Goodreads). Because, even though I’ve never read Liz Kessler’s popular Emily Windsnap series, the sound of this book–a MG in a mysterious town where someone has gone missing, plus secrets, WEATHER, family–gets me excited.

Under the Empyrean Sky: The Heartland Trilogy # 1 by Chuck Wendig (Amazon | Goodreads). Because dystopian with CRAZY CORN. I’m not even lying. Also, because the MC is an effing pirate. SO. EXCITED.

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill (Amazon | Goodreads). Because TIME TRAVEL. And because two teens are trapped in a prison, one with a list that she wrote (presumably in the FUTURE) telling her she has to kill her friend and the guy she loves.

Comments

  1. My cousin just asked me to be in her wedding, but it isn’t for another year. Weddings are so time consuming, aren’t they? It’s not bad, but, you know, it eats up so much free time.

Anyway, I have Fangirl too and WOOT! I’m so excited. I’m trying to wait until closer to the release date, but man, I cannot wait. Have you read Attachments by Rowell? I really liked that one too.

I recently read Dare You To, and it is freaking awesome! Katie McGarry does not disappoint. And YAY for The Hero’s Guide! Those books are so fun.

Anyway, I hope you have a bit more free time in June. Happy reading 🙂

  2. Whoa! So many good books! Also thanks for pointing out that Tumble and Fall is on NetGalley… so wanting to read that one!

I’m REALLY excited about Rose Under Fire and Fangirl… like I can’t explain how excited! (I’m sure you understand 😉 )

  3. I really, really, REALLY loved Dare You To. I daresay I might even like it a smidgen more than Pushing the Limits – and only because the guy in Dare You To (RYAN) is just my type. I definitely think you should read this one soon!
