Top Ten Tuesday (100): Sequels

Top Ten TuesdayTop Ten Sequels I’m Looking Forward To

I feel like I’ve said before how much I LOVE SERIES books, friends, but my love of them is so huge that it bears repeating: I LOVE SERIES. So that’s twice in one sentence now. But one thing that comes with loving series books the way I do is the waiting. The perpetual state of “WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK COMING???!!” This list is the upcoming series books I’m most looking forward to, including a few that don’t have covers yet. I’m SQUEEING with excitement for these books!!

SequelsDREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS: DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE #3 by Laini Taylor

There really aren’t many books I’m looking forward to more than this one. This world, this story, these characters…I just DIE over them. I am positively salivating with anticipation to see how things end up for Karou and Akiva.

WORLD AFTER: PENRYN AND THE END OF DAYS #2 by Susan Ee

More angels! This series is great also. The angel mythology is so different from Laini Taylor’s series, and I love it. The apocalypse angle is very enjoyable, and Penryn is an AMAZING badass character. There’s something about her that we don’t know yet, I’m convinced. Like, a THING.

CRESS: THE LUNAR CHRONICLES #3 by Marissa Meyer

Teeny cheat because I’ve actually already read CRESS, but OMG I’m still dying for it. I’m dying to read it again because it’s SO. FREAKING. AMAZING. Marissa Meyer keeps getting better with each book she writes. The story advances in such incredible ways.

LADY THIEF: SCARLET #2 by A.C. Gaughen

I have to admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Scarlet herself in the first book. Sometimes characters that are meant to be brusque wind up being TOO brusque for me, and Scarlet was that way sometimes. But I love Robin Hood, and I loved this reimagining. Can’t wait to see what things are in store for Scarlet and Robin and their band of thieves.

THE WINDS OF WINTER: A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE #6 by George R.R. Martin

DUH. Hopefully I’ll be reading this book sometime in the next year or so. We’re getting to the point in this series where, more than ever, things are moving into place for the final act and I couldn’t be more excited.

SequelsWRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART’S BLOOD: OUTLANDER #8 by Diana Gabaldon

SIGH. I have this series on the brain lately, friends. It is the very definition of “sweeping” and “epic” and I just can’t get enough. Jamie Fraser is just…RAWR. But the history is what gets me too. BIG FOREVER FAN.

ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER by Stephanie Perkins

When this book shows up in my mailbox I will do such a happy dance, the likes of which the world has never seen. STOKED does not even begin to describe how excited I will be. Not even close.

SequelsSINNER: THE WOLVES OF MERCY FALLS #4 by Maggie Stiefvater

I know that I’m not the only person who freaked the eff out when Maggie Stiefvater announced that she was writing another Mercy Falls book. ABOUT COLE. STOP IT RIGHT NOW, MAGGIE.

SHADOW SCALE: SERAPHINA #2 by Rachel Hartman

I need more dragons in my life, I’ve decided. Specifically, I need more of THESE dragons in my life. This book isn’t coming out until 2015 now, but that does very little to dampen my eagerness to read it. GIVE ME THE DRAGONS NOW!!! Ahem.

MORTAL HEART: HIS FAIR ASSASSIN #3 by R.L. LaFevers

OBVIOUSLY. This is one of my favorite series out right now, and I am in a constant state of readiness to dive back into this world. I just want to know what’s up with my girl, Annith.

Comments

  1. I still have to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I gotta say that the cover for Dreams of Gods and Monsters is enough to make me move it up in my tbr pile!! All of the covers in that series are amazing! Eeeek! I’m so excited for World After!! I loved Angelfall!

  2. OMG! I totally didn’t know that Maggie Stiefvater was coming out with a 4th book! How did I not know this?!?

  3. I can’t wait for Isla and the Happily Ever After. I just hope the release date doesn’t change again.

  4. Great Top Ten! I have World After on mine as well! I might marathon the Lunar Chronicles when Cress is released. 🙂

  5. I listed a number of the same series you did here. So excited for Dreams of Gods & Monsters, World After. They must have just moved Shadow Scale’s publication date (and also turned the title into two distinct words), because I don’t recall seeing either of those things when I checked this record just a week or two ago. Boo. Still, though, that makes me even more excited that it will be amazing. And George R.R. Martin better have the sixth book out soon. It was 2011 that A Dance with Dragons was published? It’ll be 3 years then next summer? So maybe? I haven’t really felt like everything was coming into place in the latest, though. Well, maybe a little. But I do think Martin keeps expanding his world too much. He just needs to focus on the conflict now imo. But I am eager to see what he does regardless.

  6. Lucky you’ve already read Cress, that was on my list too. And I can’t believe Angelfall is out soon, can’t wait to find out what happens next! Great list!

  7. I’m looking forward to so many of these sequels! Seraphina’s doesn’t come out to 2015 though ahhhhhhhhhh whyyyyyy!!!

  8. Some really great books! So many series that I have yet to start but have been meaning to and dying to for so long now. Angelfall, Cinder and The Daughter of Smoke and Bone are the ones I am really itching to start as I have heard such great things about them all!

    Great list! My TTT.
