January Recap

The beginning of this year was AMAZING and bananas, friends. I read some great books, even though I’m behind on my Goodreads challenge already (of course), got to hang out with my amazing ladies, Brittany and Alyssa, and got a few snow days from work to boot! Huzzah! Love snow days! Here’s a recap of my bloggish goings-on for the month of January!

January 2014So, these books are the only pictures I have to share from my January vacation to upstate NY to visit Alyssa & Brittany! I was driving Brittany back to the airport before we realized that we didn’t take one single picture together. #bfffail. It’s hard to be picture ready, though, when you basically spend your vacation sitting around in pjs, drinking sangria, eating, and going to see Frozen, but I couldn’t have had a better time with my girls. I bought the bottom three books on our trip to B&N the day Brittany and I arrived, and SUNSHINE was a sweet gift from Alyssa! Can’t wait for more visits, ladies!

Sunshine by Robin McKinley // The Lies of Locke Lamora: Gentleman Bastard #1 by Scott Lynch // Also Known As: Also Known As #1 by Robin Benway // The Bitter Kingdom: Fire and Thorns #3 by Rae Carson

recapDUDE. I legit LOVED THESE BROKEN STARS by Amie Kaufman & Megan Spooner.

BEING SLOANE JACOBS by Lauren Morrill was cute, friends, even though I liked MEANT TO BE better.

I need to read more historical fiction, if REVOLUTION by Jennifer Donnelly is the bar

recapI read LOTS of fantastic books in 2013, but here’s my top ten favorites.

Debuts are SO FUN and I’m always excited about them. Here are the ten debuts I’m most excited for this year.

I’d never want to live in these bookish worlds, friends.

recapDREAMWOOD by Heather Mackey is a middle grade that sounds fantastic.

Yo, THE 57 LIVES OF ALEX WAYFARE by M.G. Buehrlen has time travel and historical fiction and YES TO ALL OF THE THINGS.

Oooh, fairy tale retelling! Sign me up for PRINCESS OF THORNS by Stacey Jay.

DRAGONSSSSSS! OMG. I need THE COPPER PROMISE by Jen Williams, like, YESTERDAY. (Too bad it’s not coming out in the US any time soon.)

September recapI’m so excited to be starting a new feature with my girls, Brittany and Alyssa! On the Same Page begins with DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT by Laini Taylor!

Another new, fun thing! Lisa and I are running a middle grade challenge called Adventures Through Awkwardness. DO IT. You know you want to.

These were the five books I was most looking forward to this January. I managed two out of the five, but the other three are on deck!

recap

My 2014 bookish resolutions. Shit just got real, y’all.

Comments

  1. These Broken Stars is REALLY HIGH on my wish list. I just got a bunch of Amazon gift cards for my birthday, so I’m thinking that one will be on its way to me soon! I’m also dying to read Not a Drop to Drink.

The Copper Promise: WHEN will this be available in the US?! Cannot even describe my frustration when I went to add it to my Amazon wish list and… nope….

  2. Oooo, The 57 Lives of Alex Wayfare looks so good! I’ve heard really good things about it and I added it to my Historical Fiction Reading Challenge for this year. Can’t wait to pick it up:) I’ll have to keep an eye out for your review!
