Waiting on Wednesday

The Thorn of Emberlain: Gentleman Bastards #4 • Scott Lynch

Book cover The Thorn of Emberlain Scott Lynch

A kingdom torn by civil war.

A breakaway republic, outnumbered on all fronts.

Two thieves caught between avarice and admiration.

Things change forever.

Yup. That’s it. That’s all we get. (For now.) BUT THE COVER. Guys. I die. I still haven’t read book three in this amazing series (starting it very soon, though), but I think it goes without saying that I will always need to know what’s up with Locke Lamora and his bff, Jean Tannen. These two and their crass, clever banter and their unshakeable loyalty make me frenzied with fangirlishness.

If any of you are fans of A Song of Ice and Fire and are looking for something to read in the long, LOOONG wait for WINDS OF WINTER, you’d be doing yourself a huge favor by starting this series. It’s hilarious and complex and the world-building is stellar, and you can’t get any better than Locke and Jean, especially in terms of bromances.

THE THORN OF EMBERLAIN comes out in July 2015 (hopefully) from Del Rey

  1. Apparently I can’t just flail about this to you on twitter, I have to comment, too!

Locke is the best, Jean will always have my whole heart, and after RoT, Sabetha is pretty much my queen! I saw that when Scott Lynch posted this cover a few weeks ago, he mentioned that the book would be out 2015 (if all went as planned), but I think he mentioned LATE 2015? So, I’m not sure it’ll make it by July, but hopefully before the end of the year. I know it was a long wait between RSURS and RoT, so at least we haven’t had to wait that long again. (Plus the reasons behind that delay were pretty sucky, so I’m glad he isn’t going through that again.)

I’m always glad to find new GB fans, especially when they obviously share my other tastes!

  2. Well if George R.R. Martin thinks this book is great then I guess it must be?! Thank you for the recommendation Amy 🙂
Here’s My WoW if you would like to check it out 🙂

  3. Did anyone else notice the singularity of “Gentleman Bastard”?
    Always before it’s been plural…
