Top Ten Tuesday (105): Winter TBR

Top Ten TuesdayTop Ten Books on My Winter TBR

Ahh, Winter. There’s very little I enjoy more than curling up under my blankets with a hot drink and a good book, friends. I feel like we are simpatico on this. These ten books, though, are some of the ones I’ve moved to the top of my winter TBR. Because they sound GOOD! And I’d like to curl up with them all.

Winter TBRGet read for LOTS of witches on this list, my dears. This one is paranormal historical, which I just adore forever. Cousins in early 1800s England who are witchy. YES PLEASE.

Winter TBRAnother thing to prepare for on this list? Books blurbed by Jennifer Armentrout. Seriously. This one sounds excellent, though. More witches and demons and other excellent things. Sounds a little bit like Supernatural, but with girls.

Winter TBRI don’t always jump to read sci-fi, but this one–about teenage mercenaries who uncover a conspiracy in their galaxy–sounds fast-paced and excellent.

Winter TBRWhaaaaat Beauty and the Beast retelling?! STOP IT NOW. I am always going to line up for a fairy tale retelling, especially a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Except in this one, Beauty is basically hoping to KILL the Beast. That’s a super twist.

Winter TBRDo you guys read this series yet? No? *Gives side eye* It’s really so, so entertaining. I don’t want to spoil for those who haven’t read these books yet, but this one is going to have a very different spin from the others, but I’m still looking forward to it.

Winter TBROooooh, ROBIN HOOD! Well, these books are more about Scarlet, but still. It’s the Robin Hood story from a different perspective. I thought that Scarlet was a little unappealing in the first book, but I enjoyed it all the same, and I’m VERY interested in where things are going to Robin and Scarlet and the Merry Men.

Winter TBRI just keep talking about this book, I feel like. There’s something VERY Snow White about it, and I’m completely fascinated. I would do just about anything to get my mitts on it.

Winter TBRThis contemp sounds pretty serious but still with that possibly uplifting element that makes good contemps great. Our MC is dealing with the aftermath of her father’s suicide, which is heavy, but winter time is my time for serious contemps so I’m giving it a go.

Winter TBRFANTASY! WOOT! This book sounds so so good! First of all, it name-checks GRACELING in the synopsis, and there’s slavery and romance and an abundance of good things. Umm…GIMME.

Winter TBRLook at that blurb there! “One of the best books I’ve ever read. Ever.” WOWZA. If I wasn’t already excited because SHANNON HALE, I’d be downright fidgety with anticipation over a book that another author called the best book he’s ever read.

  1. I am SO EXCITED for Secret, too!! I’ve been looking forward to it the most out of all the books. I love Nick. <3

AND OMG James Dashner said Dangerous is one of the best books he's EVER READ. EVER??? O_O I did not know that blurb existed and I am now 100000x more excited to read that book. Omg.

  2. I keep forgetting about Dangerous. I love just about everything by Shannon Hale, so I’m definitely looking forward to this one!

  3. So many good books!!!! I wants to reads them all!

  4. Oh I forgot to put “Dangerous” on my list. I’ve pre-ordered it. I hope you stay comfy and cozy through the winter while you work through your list. Kelley at the road goes ever ever on

  7. Oh. My. Gosh. That Shannon Hale book looks AMAZING! I’m a huge SH fan, myself. I’m really interested in Cruel Beauty, too! I love the cover for Lady Thief, but I still haven’t read Scarlet! So behind!

  8. Ah, AVALON, THE WINNER’S CURSE and DANGEROUS are all on my radar, too! Not for January, but maybe in February & March! It’s going to be a strong winter. Happy reading (and snuggling in blankets!)!

  9. I want to read Avalon primarily because it is being called a YA version of “Firefly” (which I recently watched and loved). I’m a little skeptical of how liberally the story will try to imitate “Firefly,” but I think I’m willing to give it a chance. Also very much excited for Cruel Beauty and The Winner’s Curse. And last I heard, The Glass Casket is actually a retelling of “Snow White and Rose Red.” Very intrigued!

  10. Amy, so many of these sound so GOOD. Salt and The Winner’s Curse are definitely on my TBR. I hope all of these are amazing. 😀

  11. Cruel Beauty is one that I really want to read myself, looks so great! Great list! I hope you get to read them all. My TTT.
